The short version
ദേവതിയാൽ കണക്ട് is a community directory for our village: local trades and services, institutions, bus timings and local notices.
The app does not ask you to create an account, does not track you, and contains no advertising or analytics software. It only sends us information you choose to type in: a feedback message, or a contact you suggest for the directory.
Notifications are optional. Each one is sent to everyone who has that kind of notification switched on — never to you personally — and we never learn which phones receive them.
Information we collect
Information you choose to give us
If you use the Feedback screen, we receive:
- the name you type,
- your phone number, only if you choose to enter it — the field is optional,
- the message you write.
We use this to reply to you and to correct or extend the directory. Feedback is reviewed before anything appears in the app. If a message is published, the name and message you wrote become visible to other users. Your phone number is never published.
Contacts you suggest for the directory
While the directory is being built, the app may let you suggest a person or business to list. A suggestion contains the category, the name (in Malayalam and/or English), the place and the phone number you enter. It does not include any information about you or your device.
Suggestions are saved hidden. They appear in the app only after an administrator has checked them, and may be edited or declined. Once published, that name, place and phone number are visible to everyone using the app, which is the purpose of the directory. Please only suggest someone who has agreed to be listed. Anyone listed can ask for their entry to be removed at any time using the contact details below.
Information collected automatically
The app contains no analytics, advertising identifiers, crash-reporting or tracking software of any kind. We do not collect your location, contacts, photos or files, and we never receive any identifier for your device.
Like any internet service, the servers that host the app's data keep standard technical logs of requests — such as IP address and time of request — for security and to keep the service running. We do not use these logs to identify or profile you.
The app requests two Android permissions:
- Internet access, to download the directory, news and bus timings.
- Notifications, to show the notifications described below. Android asks you before allowing it; you can refuse, and the rest of the app works exactly the same.
It does not request location, contacts, camera, microphone or storage permissions.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, the app can tell you about urgent local notices (such as power, water or road disruptions), new news posts, bus timing changes and new versions of the app.
Notifications are delivered by Firebase Cloud Messaging, a Google service. To make delivery possible, Firebase creates a notification token on your phone and keeps it with Google. The app uses it only to join the kinds of notification you have switched on. A notification is sent once, to everyone who has that kind switched on; it is never addressed to an individual phone.
The token never reaches us. We do not see, receive or store it, and nothing we hold can tell us which phones have the app or receive our notifications.
You can switch each kind of notification on or off in Settings → Notifications (അറിയിപ്പുകൾ), or turn them all off in your phone's own settings.
Information stored on your device
The directory, news and bus timings are saved on your phone so the app works without a signal. This copy stays on your device and is never read by us. It is removed when you uninstall the app, or with Settings → Clear saved data.
People and businesses listed in the directory
The app lists names, trades, places and phone numbers of local people and businesses so that villagers can contact them. Entries are added by the app's administrator, or suggested by app users and published after an administrator reviews them.
If you are listed and want your entry corrected or removed, contact us using the details below and we will do so. No explanation is needed.
Who we share information with
We do not sell, rent or share your information with anyone for advertising or marketing.
The app's data is stored with Supabase, which hosts the database and images on our behalf and processes that data only to provide the hosting. See supabase.com/privacy.
Notifications are delivered by Google through Firebase Cloud Messaging, as described above. Google processes the notification token on your phone only to deliver notifications. See firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
We may disclose information where required to by law.
Keeping information secure
All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Access to change directory data is limited to the app's administrators.
Children
The app is a general village directory and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
- Don't send feedback or suggest contacts — then the app sends us no personal information at all.
- Choose your notifications — Settings → Notifications switches each kind on or off; your phone's settings can turn them all off.
- Clear saved data — Settings → Clear saved data removes the copy on your phone.
- Ask for removal — of a directory entry or a published feedback message, using the contact details below.
- Uninstall — removes everything the app stored on your device.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address and the date at the top of the page will change.
